Video stills printed on canvas rolls
Electric motor. No audio
This is also part of the series Hello/Good Bye. This kinetic sculpture consists of two fabric moved by a motor —one going downwards, one going upwards. On the left are located printed video stills of two persons greeting each other. On the right, the stills show the same people saying goodbye. The movement inversion makes both situations look the same. When one rewinds a goodbye on video, it seems like a hello. This way of printing video frames on sashes of fabric moving in different directions creates the same analogy, and becomes a metaphor on how the medium that caused these images works.
