Sesion is the result of discovering a 45 rpm EP released by the Soviet Union in 1961, when Yuri Gagarin went into space. In the record, Gagarin can be heard talking about the cosmos from Earth. This copy was distributed by the Soviet government and translated to several languages so that the world could appreciate their technological progress. This demonstrated for the first time the recording on Earth of the voice of someone “on the other side”. The piece documents a “spiritual mass” given to Gagarin by placing a glass of water in the middle of the shot while playing the recording.
